National Hispanic Institute Informational Meeting
The National Hispanic Institute (NHI) will be having an informational meeting this Thursday, December 6 at 6 PM at the Cathedral HS Gym. NHI is now taking applications for it's 2012-2013 leadership conferences. The deadline to submit your application is December 12. Last year, we had 8 magnet students participate in NHI, with one of our very own winning national recognition! 6 of those 8 students are now local mentors for this year's new cohort! The National Hispanic Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the future leadership needs of the global Latino community. To carry out it's mission, NHI conducts independent research focused on leadership and educational development. The institute annually collaborates with K-12 schools, colleges and universities, and works with over 5,000 high-achieving youth and their families. NHI has distinguished itself form other organizations not by placing emphasis on civil rights, nor pointing to existing social problems, or depicting Latinos as a community in urgent need. NHI instead recognizes the talent of Latino youth and the potential they represent to the future of the Latino community and extended sectors of the American and global society.
